Houston singer, rapper, and songwriter Caleb Zackery Toliver, otherwise known as Don Toliver, is rapidly becoming one of the most talked-about artists of the year with the recent release of his new album, Octane. The album gained traction and consistently appeared on trending charts after its release earlier this year, and as the excitement for the album continues to grow, many fans are looking forward to watching him perform live.
Toliver’s Octane Tour, set to span from May to July, leaves many students at Arcadia High School (AHS) eager to watch him perform. However, with most shows being sold out already, securing tickets has been a challenge.
“I love the new album and look forward to more from Don, my favorite tracks from the album are Body or Tiramisu,” said freshman Nadine Tan.
Rising to mainstream fame after appearing on Travis Scott’s 2018 album Astroworld, Don has since then released many successful albums, including Heaven or Hell in 2020 and Life of a Don in 2021. He has also collaborated with huge names like SZA, Justin Bieber, Wiz Khalifa, and Doja Cat. Toliver had already been consistently charted on the Billboard 200 with previous albums, and he continues to build on his success with Octane.
On streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music, the album can be found on many major Spotify Top Hits playlists and trending charts. Several songs from the album had begun trending globally shortly after its release, showing strong demand from listeners and fans.
The hype for Octane has carried over to the Octane Tour: live performances from Toliver that have become one of the most talked-about tours this year. However, many tour dates have already sold out on sites like Ticketmaster quickly after going on sale, leaving fans looking for resale tickets online. The excitement circling the album and tour is also being felt among AHS students.
“When I first saw TikToks about his new tour, I knew I wanted to watch him perform live,” said freshman Arcania Yin. “He is such a good performer and I cannot wait for the tour if I am able to get tickets.”
For the students at AHS, Toliver’s album has already made an impact. His unique sound, consistent releases and collaborations with big artists has helped Octane climb in popularity, and his music and the upcoming tour are sure to be discussed for a long time.
