ASB invited Arcadia High School (AHS) students to participate in Holiday Spirit Week from Dec. 1 to Dec. 5 to get into the festive winter spirit. Donning Santa hats, ski gear, and ugly Christmas sweaters, students had fun dressing up and participating in activities to show their school spirit.
The week kicked off with Marshmallow Monday, where students wore their comfiest clothes, pajamas sets, or onesies. ASB offered students free hot chocolate at the Rally Court during lunch. Many students showed up in plaid pajama pants, a common style around the wintertime.

“A lot of people were participating, which was nice to see! The hot chocolate was a nice treat too,” freshman Elise Panaligan said.
Tundra Tuesday encouraged students to bring out their ski gear, even if it doesn’t snow in Arcadia. Students bundled up in puffer jackets, all white, and scarves. Some even wore gloves or brought ski goggles.
“It was fun to see everybody dressed in their winter gear. It was fitting for the weather too, and made me want to go skiing again,” sophomore Madeline Kim said.

Whoville Wednesday was a classic, encouraging red or green attire for a “Grinch vs. Santa” theme, based off of the famous Christmas movie How the Grinch Stole Christmas. During lunch, ASB gave out Grinch kabobs: grapes, peppermint Hershey’s Kisses, and marshmallows on a stick. There was also a “present relay race,” where students battled to see who could save the most presents and win.

AHS switched up the vibe for Tropical Thursday, encouraging students to wear Hawaiian print clothing and bring some much-needed sunshine to the campus. The students delivered, wearing leis, print button-ups, and sunglasses.

The week concluded with Festive Friday. Decked out in their best holiday gear, students gathered at lunch to receive star crowns, make ornaments, take photos with Santa, and decorate cookies. Santa hats, ugly Christmas sweaters, and everything red or green were worn head to toe. The tree that ASB put out next to Santa was full of creative, fun ornaments by the end of lunch.
“I was a reindeer on Friday! I had a candy cane Jelly Cat, wore a brown tank top, white sweatpants, and a reindeer headband. I participate in each lunch event by taking photos for our freshman class of 2029,” ASB freshman historian Sabrina Yao said.

In all, AHS students displayed their shining school and holiday spirit during the week in preparation for winter break. The fun activity brought cheer to the school before finals began, and students were all ready to partake in early holiday celebrations.
