Students at Arcadia High School (AHS) participated in a festive week of Halloween from Oct. 27 to 31. Throughout the week, students showcased their creativity and school spirit by dressing up for themed days and joining spooky activities. Hallways filled with laughter and excitement as everyone got into the Halloween mood.
Mismatched Monday
The week started off with students expressing their creativity on Mismatched Monday. Students embraced the playful theme with bright colors, clashing patterns, and mismatched shoes. This day gave everyone a chance to show off their unique style while celebrating school spirit in a lighthearted way.
“Mismatched Monday let me wear something I thought I would never wear to school,” said sophomore Jacey Yeung. “I got to wear mismatched avocado socks and a blinding pink shirt!”
During lunch, students filled the rally court as they participated in a “Candy Salad Bar” activity, where they were given candies like Hi-Chew and Haribo Gummy Bears from ASB members.
Trick-or-Treat Tuesday
Students were tasked to dress as either demons to “trick” or angels to “treat.” Those who chose the demon side sported red and bold outfits while the angels appeared in white to show off their sweet side. These creative angelic wings and demonic horns brought a lively mix of colors onto campus.
Wednesday Wednesday
On Wednesday, students embraced their inner Addams by dressing up as the main character, Wednesday Addams, from the hit TV show Wednesday, on Netflix. The halls of AHS were filled with black attire and moody expressions, perfectly capturing the eerie and iconic style of the main character.
Junior Angie Wong said, “My favorite day of the week was Wednesday Wednesday! I loved the show, and I think I was most accurately dressed up that day, so it was fun seeing how elements of my outfit matched my friends’ outfits.”
During lunch, students also got the opportunity to make hand-shaped cards for “Wednesday’s Helping Hands” and enjoyed “Things’ Concoction” Jell-O cups at the Rally Court.
Sorting Hat Thursday
Four houses ruled campus on Thursday as students dressed up as their desired house from Harry Potter. A mix of Gryffindor (red), Hufflepuff (yellow), Ravenclaw (blue), and Slytherin (green) filled up the campus like a dazzling fireworks display.
Sophomore Darren Chen said, “The spirit week was fantastic, especially Sorting Hat Thursday. That was my favorite day because we dressed up in different Hogwarts costumes and matched them with our friends and teachers.”
Nightmare at Noon
On Friday, costumes filled the school as students showed their creative and fascinating Halloween costumes. Attendees added to their flair by adding temporary tattoos and sparkly star crowns. Others lined up for sweet treats, like ghost lollipops.
“Halloween spirit day at AHS really shows how the community at our high school is full of creativity and bustling with innovators, as we see dozens of Apaches wear their home-made costumes to school to join in on the festivity of this special day,” said sophomore Vincent Tan.
The variety of costumes made this special occasion feel like a parade of Halloween creativity. It was a day where everyone got to shine, show off their style, and embrace their Halloween spirit!
