The world-renowned K-pop girl group TWICE embarked on their most recent tour on July 19. Longtime Onces, TWICE fandom, are lining up to see the nine idols live.
Under JYP Entertainment, TWICE debuted on Oct. 20, 2015. The girls–Im Nayeon, Yoo Jeongyeon, Hirai Momo, Minatozaki Sana, Park Jihyo, Myoi Mina, Kim Dahyun, Son Chaeyeong, and Chou Tzuyu–topped the charts in South Korea following their debut. From there, they became one of the best-selling girl groups of all time.
“Every comeback feels like a sincere gift–They never take Onces for granted,” freshman Aiden Kwan said.
Their newest albums, This Is For and TEN: The Story Goes On, house an empowering concept. Every member performed a short solo from The Story Goes On during the show. The Story Goes On is almost completely composed of solos, in addition to “Me + You”, reflecting on TWICE longstanding friendship and relationships with each other and Once. This message is reflected through each member’s solo performance, as well as the lyrics in each song.
“This is for all my ladies who don’t get hyped enough,” is the opening line for the tour, symbolizing how TWICE’s music is for everyone, including themselves.
The tour features songs from multiple eras, such as “Fancy,” “What is Love,” “Set Me Free,” and “Strategy.” Their Incheon concert featured a couple of extra performances as well.
Freshman Katherine Vo expressed her feelings about the encore stage on the Ready to Be tour.
“It stood out to me because it was exciting to anticipate what songs they were going to sing during the encore and how the encore songs are unique to every concert!” she said.
K-pop concerts tend to be a little different from Western concerts. Typically, songs have fanchants: a synchronized chant the audience participates in during a song or segment of the show. Lightsticks are also common, modeled after the group’s concept. These lightsticks can be synchronized and are typically waved around to show support for the group.
Lightsticks and other merchandise can be purchased at the venue, but tend to be difficult to get.
“Go early, especially if you want to get merch before the concert,” Vo said.
Fans can attest to the fact that concerts are an amazing way to find a community and experience their favorite music live. TWICE’s eye-catching choreography and extensive stage designs make their concerts even more magical and special. The North American leg of the tour will begin on Jan. 9, 2026–Ticketmaster and Stubhub are the best websites to purchase tickets. Plan your outfits, get those lightsticks, and snag a ticket if you’re also a Once!
