Halloween spirit filled the Rally Court during lunch on Oct. 31 as ASB hosted its lunch event, Nightmare At Noon. Marking the end of a fun-filled Halloween spirit week, students gathered to show off their costumes and enjoy the festivities offered.
The entire ASB team was in the Rally Court helping out to operate the stations.
“In order to prepare for this event, we had a council meeting to brainstorm ideas together, and we came up with a list of ideas that turned into the temporary tattoos, the Shirley Temples, the star crowns, and the ghost lollipops that are featured at our event today,” said ASB Junior President Iris Loong.
Tables and tents were set up offering the crowns, tattoos, lollipops, and free drinks. Students could choose from purple or silver tinsel crowns and had many options of Halloween-themed items—zombies, pumpkins, bats, devils, and skulls—to choose from for their tattoos.
“I think the crafts that they have are super cute and super innovative. I also like the free Shirley Temples,” said senior Isabella Ramirez.
During the event, ASB also played various Halloween music like “Somebody’s Watching Me” and “Ghostbusters”, interviewed students about their costumes, and the historians took pictures to capture the liveliness of the event. Notable costumes were abundant, including a giant cardboard job application, a HaiDiLao worker, a performative male, and a person-sized fish.
“My favorite part about today’s event would have to be how everyone is so creatively dressed up,” said ASB Junior Vice President Brianna Chu, “ I love seeing how people get to embrace their inner child and show off their interests.”
The members of ASB synchronized their attire, following a Curious George costume theme. They dressed up as monkeys, wearing brown clothes and monkey ears. The exceptions to this were ASB President senior Angelique Dizon, who dressed as the Man in the Yellow Hat, and ASB Vice President and ASB Secretary seniors Nicolas Lo and Jeremy Tsou, who dressed as bananas.
Overall, Nightmare at Noon was a fun way for students to celebrate Halloween and spend time with their friends.
