Arcadia High School Link Crew hosted a Valentine’s-themed event, “Link, Laugh, Love”, for freshmen on Feb. 16. The event included several activities for freshmen in the Rally Court. The booths involved friendship bracelet making, origami hearts crafting, and cookie decorating, along with games such as spike ball and Mega Jenga. The music playing in the background was an enjoyable addition for all the students there.

“I think the event [was] pretty fun; I mean you get a free cookie and lemonade by scanning your ID. [Along with] fun activities in the back,” stated freshman Laurel Dese.

The main attraction of the event was the cookie decorating that freshmen were able to participate in. As music played throughout the Rally Court, Link Crew members manned a booth containing cookies, frosting, and all types of sprinkles, along with cups of pink lemonade. Students could decorate a cookie to their liking.

“It’s a pretty nice [event].” freshman Clara Choi stated. “I got free cookies and spent time with friends doing it.”

Other events included writing love letters, folding origami hearts, making friendship bracelets, and having temporary glitter tattoos on one’s arm. Besides the themed events around love and friendship, there was also a spikeball and bean bag toss set up next to the quad. There was also a Mega Jenga set in the middle of the festivities for students to play against each other. There was even a frame where freshmen could take photos of each other holding the frame.

“The music and cookies are great. 10/10.” said freshman Alex Cheng when asked what she thought of the event.

A nice part of the event was that everything was free, and the only requirement to join was to be a freshman. It was a fun event for everyone involved, whether they stayed the whole time or were just there for a few minutes.

“I think the event was great for bonding with other freshmen,” said freshman Kyleen Lin when asked what other perks the bonding event had. “I was able to introduce two of my friends to each other.”

As the event came to an end, the booths were carefully taken down by Link Crew members as people started heading out. Link Crew members worked hard for everyone to enjoy the event!
