ASB Hosts Last Freshman Bonding of the Year: Seasons Greetings

Approaching the end of the semester, the freshman council organized its final bonding event on Dec. 6, Seasons Greetings, providing freshmen with a chance to connect and make new friends. Anticipating the joy of decorating cookies with friends and crafting letters to their senior selves, many freshmen viewed this as an opportunity to embrace the holiday spirit. Excitement surged through them as the table stations opened.

At one of the stations, freshman council members distributed sugar cookies for freshmen to later embellish. Afterwards, students could move on to the next station to access food coloring and various decorations. The other station was specifically set up for letter supplies, offering freshmen stationery to compose heartfelt letters to their future senior selves.

“I am super excited to write a letter to my senior year, to reflect on my freshman year,” expressed freshman Christopher Tsai. “I love meeting new people and creating new friendships!”

Engaged in conversations about school, holiday plans, and gradually setting aside their schoolwork as freshmen found seats at the tables, the stress from their first high school final appeared to be overshadowed by their enthusiasm for this event.

Freshman president Iris Loong said this event was a great turnout, and she especially appreciated when freshmen had the opportunity to enjoy their last bonding event.

“High school is like a scary place for us, especially towards the final exams,” said Loong, “but I hope this [event] is like a welcome and a nice way for freshmen to enjoy high school.”

As usual, ASB displayed a vibrantly decorated poster with the prominent words “Seasons Greetings” at the event, encouraging attendees to capture their memories by taking pictures. Many seized the opportunity to snap photos with their cookies and friends, creating enduring memories of this bonding event.

“The event is really cool, very social, it feels so Christmasy, and I feel like I really had the time to bond with my peers,” said freshman Jenith Certer. “I had a great time with my friends.”

In the concluding moments of the event, freshmen handed over their creatively decorated letters to their senior selves to ASB members. These letters will be returned to them during their senior year, serving as a reflection on their high school journey.

“This idea was actually inspired from last year’s freshman council. We want the event to bring the event of the winter season, and have all freshmen to bond,” said Loong.

It was evident that freshmen had a great time at the event. Best of luck with your first high school finals!
