Bonchon Chicken

Bonchon Chicken is a restaurant franchise best known for its delicious Korean fried chicken. After its establishment in Busan, South Korea, in 2002, it has opened new branches all around the globe. Just last year, a Bonchon Chicken restaurant was opened in our local city of San Gabriel, California.

Ever since its grand opening, I have visited Bonchon multiple times with both friends and family. The restaurant itself has a decent amount of tables for customers, but if you visit during peak hours, you might have to wait for seating. I suggest joining the waitlist on Yelp on your way to the restaurant as that will decrease the time you are standing. The atmosphere of Bonchon is quite lively. They play K-Pop from their overhead speakers, and the television screens play K-Pop music videos as well.

Bonchon Chicken’s menu consists of both fried chicken and Korean dishes. There are three flavors for the fried chicken: Soy Garlic, Spicy, and Sweet Crunch. Diners can choose to order from different flavors and dish size combinations, and each plate of fried chicken comes with either coleslaw or radish. Some of their appetizers include Seasoned Fries, Sliders, and Takoyaki. Their Korean dish menu consists of Tteokbokki, Bibimbap, Bulgogi, and more! When I go there, I usually order and share the medium Soy Garlic combination. It is more than enough for two people to eat. I prefer the Soy Garlic flavor because it is a lot more savory, whereas the Spicy flavor is just hot without any underlying flavors. Because the chicken is already filling, the only appetizer I order is the Seasoned Fries. Their fries are extremely tasty and are made-to-order, so there is a guarantee of freshness!

Of all the times I have been there, their customer service has been top-notch. The manager often visits each table to make sure everyone is enjoying their meal. The servers are extremely quick, and they even take the time to replace the trash bag at each table. When I visited Bonchon for the first time, my friends and I ordered the Seasoned Fries. We were nearing the end of our meal, yet we still had not received the appetizer. I brought it up to the manager when she came to our table, and she went to the kitchen to check up on it. She personally brought the fries to our table, and even comped us for them! Bonchon’s customer service definitely deserves a five-star rating.

Junior Markis Cheng frequently dines at Bonchon and considers it one of his favorite restaurants. He recommends “Bonchon for those that are new to Korean fried chicken because it is the best place to get it in the 626 area.”

All in all, I would definitely recommend for people to eat at Bonchon Chicken when there is one near them. They never fail to satisfy my cravings, and I cannot wait to go back again!
