Beat the Heat

Beat+the+Heat

Summer typically entails many trips to the beach and basking in the warmth of the sun. Recently, however, the temperature of Earth has been drastically ascending. The planetary object responsible for providing heat for human civilization to thrive in has been questioned for its threatening qualities.
When the term was first introduced to the public, Global Warming was perceived as a hoax. Some people still speculate its existence. Others believe the increase of temperature is gradual and is nothing to fret about. The data, on the other hand, collected for over a decade has proved that the ascending heat is becoming a detrimental problem. Climate scientists from around the world gathered to form the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, IPCC. Their purpose is to collectively determine a solution or find prevention methods to either maintain or revert the temperature to a more bearable level of heat. In the beginning years, the IPCC was blatantly ignored by society since there was insufficient evidence to prove the sun’s significant impact on the Earth. In recent years, now that the increase of heat has been noticed by the public, people are finally motivated to change their behavior.
Carbon dioxide, which is present throughout the world, is the main factor for Global Warming. Known as a greenhouse gas, carbon dioxide acts as a barrier which impairs the speed at which heat is transferred back into space. Carbon dioxide is constantly recycled into the air then the environment and back. The carbon cycle is important to balance the amount of greenhouse gases within the atmosphere. A few years back, the IPCC provided a detailed list of how to prevent further damaging the environment by restricting the use of carbon dioxide. Although this concept should be news breaking material, many people feel apprehensive about following through with its demands. The most controversial action being to reduce the amount of car emissions as well as lessening the number of factories.
Due to the industrial revolution, coal and other sources of energy were being removed from the ground to be reconstructed into a more useful tool for humanity. Those fossil fuels contain mass amounts of carbon dioxide, which after being dug up from the surface is exposing the atmosphere to abundant amounts of the greenhouse gas. Since the carbon cycle has been disrupted, the amount of gas being redistributed to the environment is growing immensely, too much for the Earth to handle. Fossil fuels are prevalent in the lives of modern technology. Therefore many are reluctant to put forth their utmost effort to improve the world they live in.
This lengthy passage is to reiterate the importance of reducing the amounts of carbon dioxide emissions so that Earth will not become an unbearable place for humanity. Before the world dries up like a raisin, and going to the beach is like baking in an oven, society should at least attempt to repair the environment that we have been mistreating.
