Ways to Snack While Studying

Phillip Gan, Staff Writer

When I get home from school, I usually enjoy a quick snack before or while I’m working on my homework. Studying all day usually leaves me hungry, even if I ate lunch three hours ago. Eating or drinking something helps keep me energized, focused, and motivated to complete my assignments. Many of my friends agree, and they have their own unique go-to pick-me-up!

Frozen Fruit:
My favorite! Fruit is mainly composed of water, so when frozen, it brings a whole new taste and especially texture to your palate that you’re sure to enjoy! It’s easy to prepare: just cut up and throw some of your favorite fruit in a bowl to freeze overnight. Keeps you cool and in a colorful mood.
Recommendation: Watermelon, grapes, soft peaches, oranges, and/or kiwi

Mango Sorbet:
A luxurious treat. The smooth texture of sorbet, unlike ice cream, brings out and lengthens the familiar sweet and sour taste of ripe mangos, like a fermata over a whole note. A comfort food for all, this chilly dessert is perfect on a hot, arid day (every day). Hard to put down.
Recommendation: Trader Joe’s.

Green Beans
Don’t judge a book by its cover! Although you may dislike vegetables, this interesting snack is a fresh alternative to chips and sodas. There are many different ways to experiment with this option, so go make your own mini salad to love! Light and refreshing.
Recommendation: Lemon Juice, pepper, and salt.

Chocolate Chip Cookies
A classic! Heavy, but a perfect marriage of smooth dough and chocolate. This well-known treat is a favorite all love, and will definitely leave you with a happy ending for the rest of the afternoon. Makes you feel warm and fuzzy.
Recommendation: Warmed, with a glass of cold milk.

Ice
Another interesting snack. This odd choice is actually the most efficient one. Not only does it cool you down, but it also serves as a great stress reliever, helping you focus while your teeth crunch away. Who doesn’t eat the ice when all the tea is gone? For those hard workers who procrastinate.
Recommendation: As is or with lemon tea.

Frozen Yogurt
Not what you think. No, not Yogurtland; literally frozen yogurt. A surprisingly cool treat, regular yogurt from the freezer is a novel idea to try. After thawed for a few minutes, the texture becomes similar to a slush, yet different at the same time. A must try. My “invention”. (hehe)
Recommendation: Any flavor!
