Incredibles 2

The long-awaited Incredibles 2, slated for a release on June 15, has built momentum since its confirmation in 2014 by The Walt Disney Company CEO and Chairman Bob Iger. Since The Incredibles in 2004, Pixar fans have been clamoring for a sequel. Incredibles 2 follows the Parr family in their quest to fight evil but maintain normalcy in their day-to-day lives.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

The fifth installment of the Jurassic Park series, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, will be released on June 22. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard reprise their roles as Owen Grady and Claire Dearing from Jurassic World respectively, and Steven Spielberg returns as an executive producer. The film introduces a new dinosaur, the Indoraptor, which is a hybrid of the Indominus rex and the Velociraptor.

Ant-Man and the Wasp

A sequel to the 2015 film Ant-Man, the next movie in the Marvel universe will be released on July 6. As it is the movie immediately succeeding Avengers: Infinity War in cinema, Marvel fans are speculating its possible connections to the timeline. The titular crime-fighting duo of Ant-Man and the Wasp collaborate to defeat the supervillain Ghost.

Crazy Rich Asians

Based on the 2013 novel of the same title by Kevin Kwan, Crazy Rich Asians is a romantic comedy about professor Rachel Chu and her secretly wealthy boyfriend, Nick Young. Crazy Rich Asians, according to The Washington Post, is the first Hollywood movie in 25 years to have an all-Asian cast. The movie will be released on Aug. 17.

The recent trend in blockbuster series and superhero movies, as well as greater diversity in casting, is more evident than ever in this batch of Hollywood summer releases. Don’t miss out on these films and more to come!
