Unique Hotels to Visit

Veronica Yu, Staff Writer

As the 2018 school year draws to an end, students will be spending the summer going on vacation and traveling around the world. While they often stay in hotels close by to the attractions, there are certain hotels that are attractions in themselves! Here are five unique hotels that you should definitely visit!

1. Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort, Finland

Instead of your typical guest room, at the Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort, guests can choose to spend the night in either a snow igloo or a glass igloo. The glass igloo is made of frost-resistant thermal glass, providing guests not only with a comfortable room, but also an amazing view of the natural world. From the comforts of their igloo, guests can observe the starry night sky and witness the majestic northern lights.

2. Giraffe Manor, Kenya

Ever wondered what it’d be like to have breakfast with a giraffe? Well at Giraffe Manor, you can! A paradise for giraffe enthusiasts, visiting Giraffe Manor is a must for anyone who loves giraffes or animals in general. Resident endangered Rothschild’s giraffes visit the manor in the morning and evening, poking their long necks through the windows to get a snack. Guests can also take a tour of the sanctuary and meet an adopted baby elephant at the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.

3. Skylodge Adventure Suites, Peru

The Skylodge Adventure Suites are perfect for the adventure seeker. Hanging off the side of a mountain, the 24×8 feet suites are transparent, made of aerospace aluminum and weather resistant polycarbonate. However, in order to get there, guests first need to climb up 1,300 feet of the mountain, an adventure not for the faint-hearted.

4. Manta Resort, Zanzibar

Surrounded by pristine waters, the Manta Resort guests can relax in the tropical paradise of Zanzibar. However, what sets it apart from other beach resorts is its Underwater Room. In the Underwater Room, guests have a breathtaking 360 degree view of the underwater world. This allows guests to view a myriad of fish and even shyer animals, like squid that are attracted to the underwater spotlights.

5. Dog Bark Park Inn, United States (Idaho)

Considered a famous Idaho landmark, this hotel is known for being architecturally unique. Owners Dennis Sullivan and Frances Conklin designed and built the hotel in the shape of a beagle. Even the rooms within hotel are dog themed, making it the perfect stay for dog lovers!

So, if you’re still looking for your next summer vacation location, consider going to these places to see the hotels and spending the night there! You’ll definitely have an unforgettable experience!
