Phone accessories have become extremely popular among teens this year. From custom phone cases to pop sockets, students are finding creative ways to make their phones unique. Some brands that have gone extremely viral for their phone products are Octobuddy and Rhode.
Some of the common trends seen in phone accessories are phone charms, stickers, MagSafe/magnetic accessories, and PopSockets. These accessories show people’s style and self-expression.
An Octobuddy is an adjustable, sticky silicone phone mount with lots of small suction cups on the back, making it easy to stick your phone onto any surface. These are trending with the student body as they are functional, small, and convenient, allowing students to stick their phone onto mirrors, lockers, desks, or windows so they can use it hands-free without holding it. Octobuddy works as an affordable and portable alternative to tripods, which allows creators to film from unique angles wherever they want without extra equipment.
“Octobuddy makes taking pictures with my friends way easier; we don’t have to ask strangers to take our pictures anymore,” said freshman Greg Mouradian.

Students are finding creative ways to make their phones unique. Phones are a big part of teen life, and customizing them allows students to express their personality, hobbies, and style by showing their own custom designs. For example, the brand Rhode has popped off for its cases that can hold your lip gloss or lipstick, so people can have it anywhere they go.
These brands became famous due to viral social media posts, marketing, celebrity endorsement, and being practical but helpful at the same time. Rhode is owned by famous celebrities such as Hailey Bieber, which causes everyone else on social media to join the trend and try it out for themselves.
Platforms like TikTok and Instagram are full of tutorials showing how to make cute or aesthetic accessories. Students enjoy making their phones stand out from their friends, turning their phones into fashion.
“ I watched tutorials and I DIY’ed [my old phone case], where I put stickers on it and a popsocket,” said freshman Ian Budworth.
Another reason for the trend is affordability. Instead of buying expensive designer cases or accessories, teens can make their own at home with inexpensive materials like stickers, magazine cutouts, rhinestones, and washi tape. With these materials, they can make designs like a collage case, a sticker case, and a sparkle case. These viral phone case accessories are also at a low and affordable price.
Customizing your phone also gives people a sense of control. Them watching short and Before-and-after videos, make people want to try it themselves. People also turn DIY phone case ideas into small online shops to sell to others.
