In celebration of February, the month of love, Link Crew hosted a To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before movie night on Feb. 7 from 4:30-7:00 p.m. This event was originally going to be held outside at the softball field, but due to rainy weather and wet field, the event was moved inside the MPR.
“To set this event up, we first had to fill out forms for the softball field, but unfortunately, due to the weather, we had to change it to the MPR. [With the new location,] we had to cancel all the maintenance and activity requests and then go to the ASB office to change [anything] else,” said event captain senior Marcus Loo. “So, with the rush time, we decided to [decorate the MPR by] putting fairy lights and blankets to make the atmosphere as comfortable as possible for whoever was attending.”
The MPR was decorated with pink and red blankets spread around the room; some had flowers on top, and balloons were scattered throughout. Fairy lights were hung on some walls, and vases filled with flowers were arranged beneath the screen. To enter the MPR, students had to check in by lining up in their grade line, scanning their ID, or having a Link Crew member type it in. Before the movie began, students had the opportunity to take polaroid photos and decorate them with a variety of colorful rhinestones, including green, blue, pink, and red.
The lights dimmed as the movie started, and Link Crew members began passing out chocolate-covered marshmallows with strawberries and bananas on a stick. They even went around with a kiss cam photo frame to offer a chance for audience members to take photos.
Halfway through the movie, there was a five-minute intermission where students could use this time to use the bathroom, step outside, or take more polaroid photos.
“I think the movie was pretty good, but there were some parts that were a little shocking or interesting,” said freshman Margaret Garcia. “The event was pretty good. I liked being able to take photos with my friend, and the intermission they had for students to use the restroom or just take a step outside was a great addition. I [also] like [that they] had blankets set up for people to sit.”
Overall, this was a fun and relaxing event for students to enjoy with friends or significant others.
