Arcadia High School’s (AHS) Link Crew hosted Fall Fest after school on Nov. 1. From 3:45-5:30 p.m., this event helped students to destress after a busy and eventful Halloween season.
The Rally Court outside of S-Building was decorated festively with warm colored garlands to represent Autumn. Students were able to enjoy refreshing ice cream from a local store: 626 Hospitality Group. Along with that, students were immersed in different activities such as pickleball, ping pong, spikeball, tote bag painting, glitter gems and tattoos, and face painting.
“My favorite activity is definitely the tote bag painting,” said freshman Sophia Chavez. “The cat I painted is looking very dorky, and I love it. It was very fun!”
626 Hospitality Group drew in numerous students with their unique flavors, including lychee strawberry, ube coconut, Irish cookies & cream, and royal milk tea. Despite the lengthy wait to receive the two scoops, many were determined to get a taste.
“In general, Fall Fest was a very well-run event in terms of planning. As part of the fundraising team, we had to communicate with 626 Hospitality Group to get the ice cream booth,” said junior Heather Lam, a Link Crew member. “Most of the people who showed up really enjoyed the ice cream. Overall, the attendance at this event was way higher than it has been in the past, far surpassing our expectations, which was really exciting for us.”
Aside from the ice cream, students enjoyed playing matches of pickleball and ping pong. The many that were involved in the games had a look of determination on their face as they played their opponents. Crowds formed around the courts, eager to watch students rallying.
“It’s very nice to have people to talk to,” said freshman Isabella Budasz. “It’s a very social event, but it’s not super overwhelming. There’s a lot of opportunities for us to engage, and Link Crew is just awesome.”
A favorite of the Fall Fest was the tote bag painting, where freshmen got to design their own DIY bags for free. Using paint and creativity, the students channeled their inner artist and created their own designs.
