With Halloween just around the corner, the Wellness Center hosted a pumpkin painting event in the Rally Court on Oct. 25 to kick off the spooky holiday season.
During lunch, the Wellness Center Committee set up tables decorated with miniature pumpkins, a wide variety of acrylic paints, and paintbrushes. This event had various aspects, acting both as a place for students to relax and a place for people to indulge in their own creativity.
“We aimed to promote different ways you can assist your own well being,” said Ms. Gina Zavala, the counselor and advisor of the Wellness Committee. “We wanted a fun activity for students to participate in that’s both interesting and calming, so that’s why we chose pumpkin painting! We aimed to engage in things to create and let students explore their own imaginations while also having fun and relaxing.”
Students of all grades were able to pick from differently colored and sized pumpkins and create whichever design their hearts desired.
“This was really fun for me because I don’t actually get to do pumpkin painting or carving this year, so I would say this was a really fun opportunity for me,” said junior Jasmine Guzman. I also really enjoy doing Wellness Center activities, and I saw the poster, so I knew I had to attend this event.”
Students from all around the tables were laughing and chatting with each other while staying focused and concentrating on what design they were painting on their pumpkins. A wide variety of designs were made with the bright colors given.
“I really like to paint outside of school, and it is something I find really fun. I thought this would be a good opportunity to express my art while hanging out with my friends,” said junior Ellie Wu.
The Wellness Center’s pumpkin painting event ended up being an easy way for students to relax in a unique environment while having a fun way to paint with their friends.
