To help students get into the Homecoming spirit, Link Crew hosted
Homecoming Tailgate after school on Oct. 11 from 3:30-5:30 p.m.
A separate stall next to the S-Building with ice cream, drinks, and free tickets to the football game was available for freshmen. At other stalls, all students could get glitter face paint, make bracelets with their friends, and get their hair done with gemstones. There were also four games: tug of war, knock-down cans, ring toss, and a video games station.
“As a senior, I believe it is important to form strong friendships, and through the tailgate, I got to meet new people and form new bonds,” said senior Enchi Huang.
The red and gold face paint and hair accessories interested many students. They showcased their support for the Varsity Football team’s Homecoming game scheduled after the tailgate and helped them get into the Homecoming spirit for the dance. Bracelet-making helped the students express their creative side and make unique accessories. Compared to the other activities, tug-of-war was the most popular game, as it gained a lot of attention from players and onlookers who cheered for their friends.
“Homecoming Tailgate was fun! I could just feel the school spirit with everyone wearing their spirit gear and red face paint showing off Arcadia pride,” said junior Connor Liu. “The many activities from table tennis to tug of war excited me for Homecoming.”
Next to the cafeteria, there were also food trucks for students to eat at while taking a break from the activities. A Handel’s ice cream truck served ice cream to help students cool down after a long school day. A Chanos’ food truck also served various foods, from burritos to quesadillas.
“This event was meaningful to me because I spent time with my friends at our last Tailgate and witnessed students who participated in their first one. I was happy to see everyone having fun and enjoying the activities” said senior Link Crew leader Amanda Lin.
The tailgate helped students to relax after a long day, and it was a fun way to help students tackle their stress from school.
