The College and Career Center hosted PCC application day on Dec. 5 to help students with their applications.
Unlike colleges that use systems such as the Common Application, PCC’s application does not involve any writing of supplementals or even essays at all! To apply, students must first create an OpenCCC account for their applications. During the workshop, advisors from PCC’s Outreach and Recruitment program strongly suggest that students use their personal email accounts rather than their Arcadia Unified School District (AUSD) email account as AUSD emails will be disabled for the graduating seniors.
After creating the OpenCCC account, there are two questions that many students have found difficulty trying to answer: what term they are applying for, and their enrollment status when that term comes around. In the workshop, advisors recommended students to choose the Summer/Fall 2024 term to apply to when choosing the term to apply for. After each student had input their respective personal information, the advisors emphasized that it is important to select “First-time student in college (after leaving high school)” as their enrollment status as of June 2024.
With these two key questions resolved, the rest of the application is fairly straightforward. After submitting their application, students are expected to receive their PCC Lancerpoint account in around 4 days. After activating their accounts, students will need to complete further steps such as applying for financial aid, reading their PCC online orientation, completing the New Student Counseling Workshop, registering for the JAM orientation, then finally deciding their classes.
