Our golf girls celebrating at CIF!

Arcadia High School (AHS) is known for their impressive achievements, and this year, the Girls Golf team was able to get to CIF Southern Section (SS) again. The Apaches have amazingly been able to go undefeated (30-0) in the Pacific League for three years in a row.

The Girls Golf team had practice everyday for multiple hours, and it consisted of “grinding down on our game and perfecting our swing to get up to this point,” said junior Zoe Sprecher. “Also, we tried to minimize the mistakes out on the course as well so that we would produce the best score possible.”
A CIF game against Serrano High School (SHS) was the deciding game that helped them get into the top 10 of CIF SS. This allowed them to face their next opponent, which was Morongo High School.

After getting into the top 10, they had to do their very best to get to their next game. Each player played their very best, allowing them to beat their opponents. Thankfully, one of the deciding shots that day against Morongo was when Sprecher had hit a -3 71, meaning she had hit 3 under par, which is 74. This is a very impressive shot, as she had hit significantly under what the normal amount of hits are. This was able to significantly bump their ranking in CIF SS even higher.

Sophomore Cadye Wang believed that AHS “were bound to play in CIF SS.”

Making CIF SS was a huge accomplishment, “but the bar was already set high from last year’s D1 win,” said Wang.

When AHS got into CIF SS, Sprecher “was a bit shocked” as she believed “that the teams that we played against were strong.”

To be able to enter CIF SS takes a lot of hard work and practice, and that’s exactly what the team did. The achievement of qualifying for CIF SS didn’t come without necessary time management, as many academic events such as tests or projects had to be done early before or done later when a game was right around the corner.

Qualifying for CIF SS is a very impressive feat, and a group of six golfers were able to do it. Against many other strong opponents, they were able to get the job done and accomplish many more achievements, such as going undefeated for three times in a row. Good job to the Girls Golf team for making CIF SS!
