AHS Interact Club and Vietnamese Culture Club Ice Skating Social

AHS’ Vietnamese Culture Club and the Interact Club held a combined social event at the Pasadena Ice Skating Center on Feb. 24. Students were offered discounted tickets from 8:00 p.m.-10:00  p.m., which motivated students from outside of the club to attend the event as well.

Students from all grade levels participated, even with the stormy conditions that day. The purpose of this event was to involve students from both groups and create a social bonding atmosphere. The members from each respective club interacted with each other for the first time at the ice skating rink, which was a great way to break the ice.

“The ice skating event was a collaborative fundraiser with Interact Club and we did it at the Pasadena Ice Skating Center. Students got discounts on the tickets, and we thought it was a fun way to get club members to bond with their friends and make new ones with members from different clubs. Since everyone wasn’t familiar with ice skating, students helped others learn together,” said Vietnamese Culture Club President senior An Duong.

Events like these keep students engaged, and also provide a chance for small clubs to earn money. The money that is earned by these clubs is then used for everyone’s benefit. They can purchase items needed by their clubs, advertise for their club, and give it an opportunity to grow and flourish for years to come.

“It honestly went way better than expected, especially with the crazy weather conditions and flood warnings,” stated Duong.

There is another upcoming ice skating event, Parad-Ice. It is being held by ASB on Mar. 13 from 9:15 a.m.-11:00 a.m. There is free entry for all seniors with a $4 skate rental! We hope to see our apaches skating it up!
