For the past two-and-a-half years, avid Marvel and Spider-Man fans have awaited the Spider-Man No Way Home trailer. After the premiere of Spider-Man Far From Home in July of 2019, fans have anticipated the future of the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man after the jaw-dropping cliffhanger that they were given. After the lengthy delay, fans finally received the trailer to Spider-Man No Way Home, and here is everything they can infer about the movie from the trailer.

For starters, rumors about Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire making an appearance in the film have been supported by the trailer. In a fight scene with the three main villains of the movie, we can see that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man is facing one of the villains while the other two seem to be facing nothing. Marvel has been known to edit details out of the trailers in the past with movies like Avengers Infinity War and Avengers Endgame, so it would not be a stretch to assume that Marvel has edited out Maguire and Garfield.

“I would not be shocked if we see Tobey and Andrew in that scene in the movie,” stated Arcadia High School junior Allison Bernardini. “I do not want to be disappointed by the film though, so I will not get my hopes up.”

Maguire’s appearance has also been hinted at through things said by the former villain, Doc Ock. Doc Ock, also known as Otto Octavius, was in the 2002 Spider-Man and has been confirmed to return in Spider-Man No Way Home. In the trailer, we can see him say “You’re not Peter Parker,” to Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, hinting that there will be more than one Peter Parker in the film.

There was also a striking parallel in the trailer that reminded fans worldwide of Garfield. The Amazing Spider-Man 2. In the trailer, we can get a top view of MJ falling from a tall building, similar to Emma Stones’ “Gwyn” falling in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. This has led to the emergence of many fan theories including one that involves Garfield’s Spider-Man coming in and saving MJ.

Overall, the trailer has left fans even more impatient than before, anticipating the potential return of the past of Spider-Mans and villains as well as the colliding of universes and multiple dimensions. The trailer has left fans more confused than before but fans cannot wait for the movie.
