New Releases on Disney+

Disney celebrated its two-year anniversary on Nov. 12 by celebrating Disney+ Day at many of its parks and on its streaming service, Disney+. Disneyland and Disneyworld were decked out in blue Disney+ decor, and Disney also announced numerous new shows and movies that have already arrived and will be arriving to Disney+.

Serving as the new streaming platform for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Disney announced over eight new animated and live-action series that will be streaming on Disney+. Disney also released teasers for some of these series. Fans received a teaser for Ms. Marvel, a show about Kamala Khan, a 16-year-old Pakistani American from Jersey City who is a big fan of Captain Marvel. A teaser for She-Hulk was also released, which will follow a lawyer who specializes in superhuman-oriented legal cases and will feature Bruce Banner, AKA the Hulk.

Multiple shows were announced whose teasers were not released, such as Echo, Ironheart, Agatha: House of Harkness, Secret Invasion, The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, X-MEN ’97, Spider-Man: Freshman Year, I Am Groot, Marvel Zombies, and season 2 of What If…?. Most of these shows will be released in 2022. 

“I am most excited for Agatha: House of Harkness because I am a huge fan of WandaVision,” said junior Leslie Lopez. 

Multiple new Disney and Pixar movies and series were also announced. Some of these movies and series include an animated version of Diary of a Wimpy Kid, which premiered on Disney+ on Dec. 3. Hocus Pocus 2 was released in the fall of 2022 and featured Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy. Other titles announced include, Pinnochio, The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild, Sneakerella, The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder, The Spiderwick Chronicles, Baymax, Zootopia+, Tiana, Cars on the Road, Win or Lose, and Disney Intertwined (Entrelazados)

“I am very excited for the Tiana production. She was my favorite princess growing up so I cannot wait to see the production” stated junior Filicia Wu. 

Disney also released new movies and shows on Disney+ day. Jungle Cruise and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings happen to be a part of the list of movies and shows that were released on Nov. 12. Multiple shorts were also released such as Tangled Ever After and The Ballad of Nessie

Overall, Disney hosted a successful Disney+ day. Fans got a peek into the next phase of Disney entertainment and also received access to hit movies and shows. With the release of such exciting information, fans cannot wait for the future of Disney.
