Thank You, Dogs

After a long day at school filled with stress and exhaustion, two bodies of white fluff greet me as soon as I open the door, with their open mouths and tails wagging excitedly. Although the same thing happens every single day, I can’t help but grin when I see those two pairs of beady eyes stare up at me, welcoming me home.

There is a special kind of connection when it comes to a person and their dog. A strong bond develops over time as the two create mutual trust, support, and memories. This relationship extends beyond the need for verbal communication, and that’s partially what makes it so special.

I have unconditional gratitude for my two dogs and the little ways they affect my daily life–their unusual sleeping positions, the way they play with each other, the odd little sounds they make––it all brings a smile to my face. There’s never a dull moment in the house with these two around. Their vibrant personalities make for an amusing atmosphere at home.

Even when I’m in a poor mood, I know I can always count on my dogs to cheer me up. And of course, with the stress that comes along with school and college applications, my dogs become a reliable source of emotional support, keeping me company when I need it the most. Whether it’s staying by my side or providing a reassuring lick, my dogs are pros when it comes to helping me get through my stress and worries.

When I am relaxing on the couch or bed watching shows, reading, or browsing my phone, my dogs will often be beside me––the smaller one curled up in my lap while the larger one dozes off by my feet. Their warmth brings a sense of comfort and security when I have them close to me. Nothing beats snuggling up with my adorable, loving dogs after finally being able to relax after an exhausting day.

I basically grew up with my dogs; the first one joined my family when I was around eight years old. We’ve made countless memories together and formed a strong friendship. Unlike the relationships that have come and gone throughout the years, the one I have formed with my dogs have remained as strong as ever.

I don’t consider my dogs as simply pets––they make up a core part of my family. To my dogs, thank you for bringing so much laughter, joy, and unconditional love into my life.
