Milk and Honey Cafe Review

Nicole Soong, Writer

California is getting hotter, don’t you just want to go to a cafe with your friends at a cafe and spend the afternoon with some snacks? Here is a good place to go, Milk and Honey cafe, which is located at Valley Blvd, San Gabriel, which is a Taiwanese cafe served with delicious drinks and snacks. The cafe is actually a little bit hard to find because the header of the store is different from its real name. The store is small and quiet in the afternoon, which is suitable for a little gathering with a few friends or doing homework since it has free wifi available. The service of food is rather slow and it is self-service with the menus and ordering.

The menu contains lots of different food and drinks, including waffles, rice, milk tea, coffee, toast bricks, and more; just what a general cafe would have. The items I ordered today were the hot latte with cotton candy, Taiwanese chicken rice, and the black sugar toast brick. The appearances of all the items that I had ordered look really nice attractive. Beyond the appearances, the tastes of the food are enticing too.

First, the cotton candy with the latte is tasty. The natural taste of coffee and the softness of the cotton candy were best for the appetizer. The latte smells nice and the temperature is just right to drink; the cotton candy is sweet and it just melted in the mouth immediately. The combination of the two is impeccable.

Next, the Taiwanese chicken rice is served with three side dishes, which contained a bowl of Braised pork on rice (which is a traditional taiwanese food), and a plate of fried chicken. The size of the whole order is more than enough for one person to finish, and it is priced reasonably. The side dishes included corns, broccoli, and Taiwanese tofu. The fried chickens are a little bit too salty in my opinion; the rice tastes luscious; the side dishes are enjoyable.

Ultimately, the toast brick was out! It took the longest to be served but it does worth the time! The appearance looks dazzling and too-cute-to-be-eaten, the texture of the toast is crunchy and it tasted good when you dip the toast into the cream or the ice-cream. The toast brick can be a little messy after eating the first layer because you will have to open up the “box” and the cream would make everything looks messier. The cream is also a little bit too heavy after a few slices of toasts, in my opinion.

Generally, I had enjoyed my order so far and I will definitely go back to try out different food they have there!
