Vans vs. Converse

Vans and Converse. Two very similar shoes with a similar purpose and design. Many people use these shoes for skateboarding or just as casual walking shoes. Some even use it to match outfits. However, there are many noticeable differences between a Vans sneaker and a Converse sneaker, which are not known by many purchasers. What could be the difference between the shoes “Off the Wall” and the “Sneakers that get dirty”?
The design of the Converse sneaker is different than that of Vans. This is due to a few different attributes present. One of these is the different type of fabric. One of the main selling points of a Vans shoe is that its classic editions are made from a certain type of suede that is smooth and comfortable to do skateboarding tricks in. Although it is also relatively comfortable to skate in Vans, it is nowhere as nice as its competitor. Therefore, many professional skateboarders such as Nyjah Huston opt to sport a pair of Vans, as the suede helps  the shoe last longer and feel swifter. Not only are the materials contrasting between these shoes, the overall designs of the shoes look different. One of the most apparent differences  that is contrasting between the two shoes is the top of the shoe. On Converse shoes, there is a rubber piece to help “stabilize” the shoe and keep it straight and in good condition. Vans does not use this, as they feel that it may take away comfort from your feet. Therefore, people who want stiffer protection go for the Converse, but those who like soft cushioning vouch for Vans.

Finally, the shoe decorations are another main contrast between the two shoes. Vans offers customers a wide variety of different designs and patterns in their shoes. Black and white checkered designs have been popular as of late, but customers can also get designs such as flamingos or palm trees. However, Converse shoes do not offer this. Instead, they opt for classic colors, such as black and white.

Overall, there are many discrete differences between the Vans and Converse shoes. This ranges from designs, colors, and to material. Nevertheless, these two are good shoes and the epitome of “American sneakers”.
