We all want a way to “manifest” our ideal life so that all of our hopes can later become realities. Well, with many individuals having more leisure time, it brings up the opportunity to look into the future and envision what will come ahead. With this comes vision boards! If you didn’t already know, this trend uses images, words, and quotes to create a collage representing future goals in a form of art used for self-motivation. Through the idea of visualization and the law of attraction, you can expand on your thoughts allowing inspiration to flow. This guide will give you the tools you need in order to create your very own vision board!

To start out, the most important thing to remember is that there are no limits and no rights or wrongs. Freshman Isabella Salama states, “I think that vision boards are a great way to start off your year because it sets a goal….creates a positive mindset and helps you keep organized.” Typically, vision boards are made on posters, cork boards, etc. except the choice is up to you to use anything. Have fun with it and maybe even turn up the volume on one of your favorite music playlists to set the tone! This is your own outlet to hold your dreams, so to begin, take a deep breath, channel your emotions, and allow yourself to envision your future. This process will give you time to reflect on what you have done so far and how you can use that to grow.

Make a list to compile all of your goals that you would want to add to your board. A great way to get your ideas flowing is through online inspiration. You can go on social media platforms like Pinterest to find some great photos and words that you feel a connection with. On your board, you want to fill it with optimism, including inspirational quotes, thoughts, emotions, and any photos that resemble where you see yourself. For instance, if you want to become a successful influencer, use images that symbolize that! You can either use a printer, magazine/newspaper cutouts, or you can use your own art skills to add onto the board. Then, using glue, tape, or thumbtacks, add these items and arrange it in an interesting way to make it unique.

When using your vision board, place it somewhere that is easy to access and that you can see every day as a source of motivation. Every morning or night, take a look at it to remind you of your future intentions. So, now that you have the basics down, go out of your comfort zone and make a vision board!
