A mere abstract of our firefighters’ job is enough to emphasize their heroics: unpredictable shifts, long hours, heavy gear, specialized in battling a powerful element of nature. Of course, these brave souls do not just fight fires. Arcadia firefighters risk their lives and sacrifice their time to protect and help innocent residents. From hosting the annual pancake breakfast to aiding in car accidents and wildfires, we owe much more than our thanks to such upstanding community members. 

Arcadia firefighters may come from many different backgrounds, but they all share a sense of duty and dedication. No matter the religion, race, or age; all Arcadia residents can count on the firefighters’ service. Our firefighters ensure that community members have the right to access invaluable services that are unfortunately lacking in other cities. To have the privilege of a large station and firefighting workforce is easily overlooked by Arcadians, but the firefighters’ contributions are nonetheless priceless and deserve recognition. Few professions exhibit such a pure commitment to the safety of the community, such an unwavering dedication to the public. Often strangers to the ones they race to save, their assistance is still unforgettable to those they help. Anonymity does not deter their spirit to provide Arcadians with a sense of security. Firefighters are the very definition of selfless.

Despite witnessing the altruistic work of the firefighters every day, many Arcadia residents will be unable to fully grasp how devoted they are. Countless hours spent awake, shifts are at least half a day! Sleep and lunch are susceptible to interruption at any given moment; their jobs are intertwined with lives. Time never stops going on, and yet Arcadia firefighters are right there working against it (holiday or not). Of course, their demonstration of their drive begins before they even step into the station. Trainings, testings, health evaluations, and much more is required to suit up as a California firefighter. Every community is bettered by the presence of firefighters, Arcadia is clearly no exception. Our city has the honorable ability to employ the most equitable and ambitious people in multiple stations. There are few more trustworthy than our firefighters.  

During this time of giving, let us begin to recognize our firefighters for what they give. Protection, kindness, and so much more. Arcadia firefighters are pillars of the community that uphold the city’s flawless image. Here’s to our Arcadia firefighters!
