Social media is known for spreading ideas and entertaining people of all ages with popular trends. Over the past few months, satisfying videos of people playing with slime have gone viral. Chances are, you’ve seen one of those videos and are dying to experience it as well. With a few simple steps, you can make your own slime and customize it for yourself!

Start off by mixing 1 cup of warm water with 1 tsp. of borax powder in a small container. After stirring the mixture together until the powder is completely dissolved, set the container aside for later. Next, in a larger bowl, mix together ½ cup of white or clear glue, ½ cup of shaving cream, and ½ cup of foaming soap. After all three ingredients have been blended together, the solution should be watery, but with a slight tackiness to it. Then, add in 1 tbsp. of cornstarch to thicken the mixture so it can hold its shape, and 2 pumps of a body lotion of your choice to make the mixture stretchy and flexible.

Now is your chance to customize your slime. Add a couple drops of food coloring to the mixture in the larger bowl and stir it in to change the color of the slime. After you have finished adding your preferred color, slowly add in the borax mixture from the previous small bowl tsp. by tsp. until you reach the right consistency. The more borax mixture you add in, the harder your slime will be, so make sure not to overdo it. If you accidentally add in too much borax solution, go back in with a bit more of body lotion to balance out the consistency. When you are happy with your slime, take it out of the bowl and begin to knead it with your hands. The heat from your hands will make it softer and easier to play with later on.

You have now created your very own slime! As you learn through trial-and-error, you can experiment with different colors and textures. For example, if you want to make slime that looks like a galaxy, split up the mixture into smaller bowls before adding the food coloring. Add in different colors such as black, purple, and blue, to each bowl and mix in the borax solution little by little. Finally, after every color of the slime has been turned into the right texture, combine the different colors and knead them together to create the perfect to resemble the galaxy. For finishing touches, sprinkle in some glitter or shimmering powder to give the slime a slight sheen so that it looks like stars.
