The Greatest Sandwiches in Arcadia

Caitlin Wang, Staff Writer

From a typical student’s point of view, sandwiches are just a dry food that counts as a school lunch. However, if you go to a gourmet restaurant or museum cafeteria, your point of view on all subs will be changed for the better. Here are some sandwich places in Arcadia that you must try, from places that sell insanely tasty sandwiches to some strangely-fried combinations.

  1. Claro’s Italian Market: Receiving nearly 5 stars on Yelp, Claro’s market has a deli you may never have heard of. There are plenty of sandwich options, with a wide array of meats and cheeses to choose from. This small sandwich shop has a set menu and the option of making your own sandwich. Particularly, the Great Grandpa Joe is a popular sandwich selection. Some of the ingredients include dry salami, provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato, and oil dressing. The prices are very reasonable for the number of delicious sandwich combinations that can be created in this wonderful deli!
  2. My Deli: Another well-rated shop, My Deli is definitely more on the pricey side, but their sandwiches are massive. The turkey avocado and the pastrami melt are good items to purchase. My Deli sells extremely fresh bread that you will love at first bite. There are also many different bread options to spice things up, such as toasted rosemary, or wheat bread. Also, avocado is added at no extra cost, another bonus of visiting this sandwich place. To go with your sandwich, there are salad options as well as wraps. My Deli is definitely worth a try.
  3. Natural Selection Healthy Grill: If you are looking for a healthy sandwich option, this is the spot for you. On their menu, Natural Selection Healthy Grill has both vegan and vegetarian options. The Mediterranean Wrap is a well-known option, and it has the option of adding a vegan patty and avocado for extra flavor to really hit the spot. If you are looking for a lighter lunch or even a snack on the go, head on over to this place.

Moreover, contrary to a typical student’s view on sandwiches for school lunch, junior Carolyn Chen is actually a fan of these easily-made foods. Carolyn points out how convenient eating sandwiches are, “My favorite sandwiches are from 7/11, with bread, mayonnaise, various vegetables, and meat. It is really simple and standard, which I need whenever I’m busy and need something to eat.” Just think about how helpful a sandwich is whenever your hungry but need a quick meal!

As a whole, there are so many different sandwich combinations that are sold here locally. Surprisingly, there are students who share a deep love for this simple food. Overall, opinions on sandwiches vary from person to person despite the wide range of amazing sandwich shops here in Arcadia.
