NFL Week 4
October 16, 2018
Four weeks have passed since the NFL season started, and teams are already gearing up with impressive victories and disappointing defeats.
On Sept. 27, the Los Angeles Rams were off to a fast start with a win of 38-31 against the Minnesota Vikings. One major factor that contributed to their win was quarterback Jared Goff. Playing the best game of his career, Goff completed 26 out of the 33 passes for 465 yards and five touchdowns without an interception. He was only sacked once, while the quarterback on the opposing side, Kirk Cousins, was sacked four times. The team’s running back Todd Gurley also helped the team to victory with 83 yards on 17 carries. Generally, the Vikings played a good defense, yet were overpowered by the sheer force of the Rams. The game left the Vikings with a 1-2-1 record to start the season.
Another sensational game was played by the Kansas City Chiefs against the Denver Broncos on Oct. 1 with a score of 27-23. In terms of power, the Chiefs have moved up from fourth place to second, with the Rams being on top. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes led them to victory. Late in the third quarter, Mahomes’ remarkable left-handed pass to the wide receiver, Tyreek Hill, landed for the first down. Mahomes completed 28 out of the 45 passes for 304 yards and one touchdown. The running back for the chiefs also helped get the job done. Kareem Hunt rushed 19 times for 121 yards and a touchdown, even while also catching 3 passes for 54 yards. This game left the Chiefs undefeated with a record of 4-0, similar to the Rams, who also have a record of 4-0. Week 4 of this football season leaves the Chiefs and the Rams to climb to the top.
Third on the power ranking board, the Jacksonville Jaguars earned a win after their game with the New York Jets with a score of 31-12. They proved to be able to pull off an amazing offense against the struggling, outmatched Jets. The Jets had an unfitting style of offense and were unprepared for their upcoming game. In addition, their quarterback, Sam Darnold, missed too many opportunities to score points. The team acted accordingly. However, quarterback Blake Bortles completed 29 out of the 38 passes and threw almost 400 yards for the Jaguars. This game proved that the Jaguars were superior.
Week 4 of this football season leaves the Chiefs and the Rams to climb to the top. Hopefully for week 5, other teams will triumph in their battle against other teams.
