Fun in the Fall

If you haven’t already noticed, it’s autumn! The days become shorter, weather becomes colder, and the trees turn beautiful hues of red, orange, and yellow. Despite this, very few people say that fall is their favorite season. Perhaps it is due to the lack of fun activities to do with your friends. But just like how the fall season is underrated, so are the special events that happen around this time.

When fall comes around, pumpkins, or at least the color orange, come to mind. That is to be expected because although pumpkins can be grown all year long, they are harvested at their peak in slightly cooler temperatures. That is to say that early to mid-fall is prime pumpkin season. Most farmers will gather their pumpkins together and sell them to the general public right around late September and early October. These events are better known as pumpkin patches, which are usually free of charge, and you can snag yourself a pumpkin from a huge variety for a pretty decent price. Most pumpkin patches hold other events too, such as corn mazes, tractor races, and petting zoos, all of which are family friendly and great place to go if you have a free weekend.

If you prefer a little more action and adventure, perhaps going to a theme park will suit you better. After all, most parks are now gearing up the spooky season by adding additional Halloween themed rides and attractions, just in time for fall. With scare zones and haunted houses being incorporated into popular theme parks, going for a fun day to spend time with friends may not be so fun once you step inside. Knotts Scary Farm, Halloween Time at Disney, and Six Flags’ Fright Fest are just a few parks that will surely be worth your time to visit and get spooked.

As mentioned before, everyone is getting ready for Halloween. From neighborhood streets to grocery stores, Halloween is probably the pinnacle of October, if not all of autumn, and everyone is getting hyped about it. Halloween is the perfect blend of family fun and spooky scary. Dressing up in costumes, carving pumpkins, trick-or-treating for candy, or watching scary movies, the possibilities are endless when it comes to Halloween. It is perhaps one of the best days of fall and definitely one of the best holidays of the year.

Finally, there is Thanksgiving, known for its huge feasts consisting of turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, cornbread, and casserole. Thanksgiving can be spent with your loved ones, whether it’s friends or family. It is also a day to reflect on the things you have and be grateful for it. A day to eat until you are as stuffed as the turkey that was once on the table but is now in your stomach; the leaves fall outside as the sun paints them golden with its last rays as it sets. The perfect way to end fall.
