Unstoppable

It is now April and Arcadia’s Varsity Baseball is rolling through their season again. They are a perfect 17-0 in the season and are on the verge of their second major tournament win.

If there’s one thing this team is, it’s hungry. They have 16 seniors on their team who are playing to not only win every game, but to destroy the opposition. They are undefeated in league and won the Frozen Ropes tournament back in early March to defeat powerhouse, Etiwanda-a team they lost to back in the semi-finals of CIF a few years ago. The roster is full of 23 of the best players from Southern California-any of whom could start at any school.

Arcadia’s baseball has always been a really great program and one of the best in Southern California. Now they are becoming one of the elites, due to huge contributions from star players like Tyus Santa Ana, Jeffrey Castillo, Jacob Morales, Dustin Allen, and Dominick Tello. All of these players have been having great years for varsity and are returners from last year’s team. These players are a big reason for Arcadia’s number two ranking in Southern California in the Los Angeles Times. Rankings are posted at the end of the dugout to remind the players what they have accomplished so far.

Santa Ana has been one of the stars of this team and was the all CIF player of the year in 2017. He is continuing to show why he is one of the best players in the area. He is batting .391 this season and has a remarkable on base percentage of .547. Castillo, who has played on varsity since his freshman year, is one of only two players on the team to hit a home run and he has added a .390 average with 7 extra base hits.

Tello is having another great year and it is only his second year on varsity. He is batting a stellar .357 and leads the team in RBI with 20. Allen and Morales have been two of the team’s best pitchers and have helped shut out multiple teams this year. Caden Ross has been on this year and has also added an ERA south of one.

Arcadia only has eight games left, and they looking to go undefeated in league again. They will still have a couple tough tests against Crescenta Valley and San Dimas, but the star studded team looks poised to finish the season a perfect 25-0 going into CIF. This team has more than enough talent to bring back a CIF title to Arcadia, which would be the program’s first since 1965.
