The Light Phone 2

Justin Liao, Staff Writer

Smartphones are an extremely influential part of our lives and society. They are so influential that they essentially dictate our daily lives. For example, what do you do when you wake up? Most people would answer with checking their social media or other apps. Phones are our lives, and we need to fix that. A solution to the problem is the Light Phone 2.

This phone costs $400 and seems like a giant waste of money. For some people, it is, but for most who only use their phone for social media and wasting time, the Light Phone 2 is perfect for fixing their addiction. The original Light Phone was made to be an accessory to your phone, but the second addition to the series is made to be a stand alone product. Its main functions are calling and texting. Shaped like a white, phone shaped box, the Light Phone 2 is perfect for anyone who is either addicted to their phone or relies on it too much.

Even though the phone is expensive for how little it does, it does have some good features. For example, it includes simple directions to places, the weather, and music: just enough for you to get through your day without relying on it too much. To be honest, you could always just get a flip phone and it would have almost as much function as the Light Phone 2, for much less of a price. However, the Light Phone feels like a more modern phone and serves more functions than a typical flip phone. It also has a longer lifespan and better damage resistance. You also won’t be judged as much for having the Light Phone 2 rather than an older flip phone.

Everyone around us is almost always on some sort of electronic device, the most common being a phone. The Light Phone 2 will make you less distracted and more focused, while still serving the same purpose of a normal phone, just without the social media and games. While going out with friends, you will be forced to socialize with them instead of checking your social media on your phone. Socializing? Crazy idea. But, it surprisingly works, and for some reason, it’s better than staring into a screen.

Who would’ve known that conversing with people in real life is better than posting photos on your Instagram story? The answer is almost every single adult in our world. They have lived without phones, and they know how connected phones make the world, but also know how disconnected they make people, too.
