Best Movies and Television Shows to Watch Over Break

As Winter Break comes closer with the passing of each day, students will finally have time to snuggle up at home and relax all day long. With so much free time, there are some movies and television shows that are great for binge-watching and teach important lessons:
- The Polar Express: This festive and touching movie tells of a young boy, Billy, who experiences an adventure of a lifetime. On Christmas Eve, he boards a magical train named The Polar Express to travel to the North Pole with other children, all while discovering the amazing world of belief and friendship.
- Beauty and the Beast: A classic princess movie from Disney, Beauty and the Beast portrays Belle, a high-spirited village girl who sacrifices herself to save her father from the beast. As Belle and the beast spend more time together, they begin to set aside their differences and find happiness and love within one another, conveying the message that our differences are not what sets us apart, but instead brings us together.
- 13 Reasons Why: A controversial show that blew up this past year, 13 Reasons Why tells the story of Hannah, a high school teenager who commits suicide after a series of incidents happen. This life-changing show teaches that there is always more than what is seen on the surface and will give you a completely different perspective on the way you treat others.
- Girlboss: This show portrays the life of Sophia Amoruso, the founder of the multi-billion dollar company known as Nasty Gal. While facing the struggles dealing with the coming-of-age and learning to take charge of her life, the character Sophia goes through the same fears that all teenagers can relate to today.
- Moana: If you haven’t already seen this popular movie, Moana is about a brave girl named Moana who embarks on a journey to save the people of her tribe. Along the way, she learns the important lessons of patience, kindness, and most of all, self-identity.
- My Neighbor Totoro: This inspirational Japanese movie is about two courageous sisters named Satsuke and Mei who move to a new town where they uncover a magical being named Totoro in the woods. With a sick mother and hard-working father, the two girls seek to adjust to their new home while exploring the themes of magic, faith, family, and love.
