To kick off the school year, Arcadia High School (AHS) students were welcomed back with a refreshing celebration. On Aug. 15, ASB hosted “Berry Sweet Beginnings”, an all school event to commemorate the completion of the first week back to school.
At the event, students received free ice cream, with three flavors to choose from: vanilla, chocolate, and raspberry sorbet. Along with the ice cream, there were a variety of toppings including Oreos, whipped cream, Fruity Pebbles, sprinkles, chocolate and strawberry syrup, strawberries, mini mochis, as well as three flavors of popping boba.
“The mochi was very good. It was sweet and chewy,” said senior Jasmine Su. “I even got four scoops of ice cream in my tray by accident!”
In addition to the sweet treat, students enjoyed a variety of activities, including spikeball and board games. Many also lined up to get their face painted and take photos with fruit shaped cutouts. Another popular activity was the resolution wall, where students were encouraged to write down their goals for the school year. The resolutions ranged from “making friends” to “getting taller”.
“The best part is seeing everyone come together for the first week of school,” said ASB President senior Angelique Dizon. “ASB started planning for this the previous school year in May, right after the new committee got elected. We used that time to figure out the logistics and plan everything ahead of time.”
Overall, this event allowed students to unwind and have some fun after their first week of classes.
