As the school year came to a close, Arcadia High School’s (AHS) Chanteurs, Symphony Orchestra, and Wind Ensemble performed at the annual POPS Assembly, held in the Performing Arts Center (PAC) on May 22. The assembly previewed the musical selections that would be featured later that evening at the POPS Concert.
The event opened with an introduction by senior Leslie Tao from the Performing Arts Commission. Chanteurs were the first to perform, presenting “From the Start” by Laufey, “What Is This Feeling?” from the Wicked soundtrack, and “I’ll Be On My Way” by Shawn Kirchner.
Next, the Symphony Orchestra performed “Jurassic Park,” from the movie Jurassic Park by John Williams, and “Flashing Lights” by Kanye West. During “Flashing Lights,” seniors Aiden To and Zuni Ng performed a vocal duet accompanied by choreography. They also tossed glow-in-the-dark bracelets into the audience as they performed.
The Wind Ensemble concluded the assembly with “Mambo” from West Side Story and “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” by John Williams.
As the final assembly of the school year, the POPS Assembly marked the end of AHS’ campus music performances for the year, highlighting the work of the school’s performing arts programs and signaling the approaching end of the academic calendar.
