As their last months in high school arrive, Arcadia High School’s (AHS) Seniors Merit at Work (SMW) members began to wrap up their time by passing down their wisdom and blazers to the next class of seniors.
As lunch began on Apr. 29, the Rally Court was flooded by students circling the stage decorated with SMW posters, all anticipating the reveal of next year’s group. Seniors watched with nostalgia as the current juniors excitedly awaited the reveal.
SMW President Tristan Bugnot gave an opening speech on how the ceremony would be conducted. The current SMW members lined up one by one, approaching the center of the stage. Each current member acts as a “big,” welcoming a new member as their “little.” Each current member approached the microphone, announcing their little’s student ID and name.
Each Big removed their red SMW blazer and placed it on the shoulders of their Little before posing for a picture in front of the “Congratulations SMW 2025-2026!” sign.
As the ceremony concluded, both current and incoming SMW members headed to the College and Career Center to attend the first mandatory meeting of 2025-2026. The Camino Grove Carnival on May 2 will be the first event of the new SMW members and the final event for old SMW members. Congratulations juniors, and thank you to our outgoing SMW seniors!
