The week after Spring Break is often a difficult transition back to school for students; as students returned to their normal schedules, Arcadia High School (AHS) Wellness Committee was hard at work preparing to launch their Wellness Week activities. To celebrate Wellness Week from Apr. 14 to 18, the Wellness Committee organized lunch activities with various AHS clubs, students, and staff members to bring the school together in promoting wellness and self-care.
Monday featured three clubs in the Rally Court: Healthy Eating Initiative and their build-your-own fruit cups, Music Makes Miracles and a special musical performance, and Girl Up Club and their DIY moodboards.
On Tuesday, Art Club and Origami Club inspired creativity and hands-on crafting, offering coaster painting and an origami-folding activity, respectively. Art Club allowed students to make their own designs and creations, and Origami Club guided students through a flower-bouquet origami tutorial for students who were interested.
Wednesday highlighted organizations like Seniors of Merit at Work (SMW), Evergreen Club, and P.E. teacher Dr. Kyle Blotzer. SMW and Evergreen Club shared the stage in the Rally Court, with SMW organizing karaoke and Evergreen Club invited students to create their own recyclable bottle plant terrariums.
The Rally Court was filled once more with students on Thursday, when The Arcadia Quill, Peer Mentors, and Arcadia Key Club hosted their own activities. The Quill encouraged students to pledge their mental health goals for the year, writing them on vintage scroll paper and signing the pledge with “sacred ink.” Peer Mentors chose to celebrate Autism Awareness Month with Wellness Week, promoting the month with wooden puzzle painting. Arcadia Key Club also gave students the opportunity to make their own stress balls.
The final day of Wellness Week was characterized by arts and creativity, with Neuroscience and Psychology Club hosting polaroid photo decoration and Link Crew providing coloring sheets for a calm and tranquil Friday lunch.
With the help and participation of numerous clubs and organizations, the Wellness Committee organized a week of relaxing, mental-health promoting activities that inspired more awareness for mindfulness and helped ease students into their school routine once more.
