In honor of the advent of spring, ASB Senior Council hosted Spring It On! on Mar. 28 in the Rally Court from 4:00-5:30 p.m. The senior bonding event was promoted through eye-catching pink and green posters scattered across campus, as well as on social media.
“I saw the post on instagram, and I thought it would be fun to go to, so I sent my friends the post and told them to come with me,” said senior Nicole Tseng.
Tseng’s friend, senior Yong-Lin Hu, attended with her.
“Nicole sent me the Instagram post that ASB posted and told me that we should go. I had seen some of the posters around campus too, so I kind of knew about it already. I think it was a great way to make the most of our senior year since we only have 10 weeks left to go.”
The Senior Council began planning for the event early in the year and wanted it to be a chance for seniors to relax after a stressful college application season.
“We started planning in January,” said senior Vice President Samantha Tong. “We brainstormed by breaking up into groups and different committees and eventually through the process of elimination we were able to narrow down the activities and the event as a whole.”
“We decided on naming the event Spring It On! because it’s during the first couple of days of spring and also to give it a more positive effect,” said senior Historian Alaina Lee.
At the event, there were games and drinks, as well as a “dirt cup” ice cream dessert, and a fun art activity.
“It was a very fun and delicious way to welcome spring,” said Hu. “I loved the dirt cups; they were my favorite part of the event.”
Seniors also had the chance to paint customized flower pots before putting dirt and planting wildflower seeds in the pots, making it a long lasting memory.
There were also lawn games, some of which included: spikeball, a colorful tepee, and trash can basketball.
“I think that this was really fun and a great class event to have. Painting the pots was my favorite part because I was able to decorate my own pot and plant wildflowers,” said senior Elisha Chen.
