As the month comes to an end, a spooky celebration welcomes us—Halloween! As the tradition goes, trick-or-treating, haunted houses, and other fun events fill up people’s schedules, but Halloween has a lot more to offer.
Near Arcadia, there are numerous places to spend your Halloween time. From families looking for a safe environment to spend the night to thrill-seekers expecting a good scare, the celebration offers a piece of fun for everyone.
“I like going to Halloween Horror Nights with my friends during Halloween time because we like the refreshing feeling of having more than just the normal rides at Universal Studios. They have a total of eight haunted mazes, and, since it’s a spooky season, the new atmosphere and haunted houses are always fun to visit,” sophomore Mark Ma said.
Furthermore, Ma added, “In particular, the realistic animations, makeup, and scares are crazy! Though thrilling, I was definitely scared. A general admission ticket is $77, and the houses close on Nov. 3, so I recommend people to take the chance and go now!”
Another exhilarating experience to experience during the Halloween season would be Knott’s Scary Farm, an iconic Halloween event held at Knott’s Berry Farm. It is one of the largest Halloween events and is known for the elaborate scare zones, shows, and mazes!
“It is definitely a much more scary experience than Halloween Horror Nights. If you are a scare-seeker, I would definitely encourage you to take a trip there. The scenery is amazing, and along with the thrilling roller coasters, it brings your spooky experience all together,” Ma exclaimed.
On the other hand, for people who prefer a more peaceful Halloween experience, the Arcadia community offers a handful of places during the season. A popular place families visit is the Advent Pines Pumpkin Patch and Christmas Tree Lot, a pumpkin patch located in Arcadia, open from 9 a.m.-10 p.m.
Sophomore Naimah Smith says, “My favorite part of Halloween would definitely be carving pumpkins and watching Halloween movies with my friends. We always take a visit to Advent Pines Pumpkin Patch and Christmas Tree Lot, where we find the best pumpkins. Afterwards, we usually go to my house and carve out the pumpkins, turning them into jack-o’-lanterns!“
Another near-by and adorable Halloween event coming up is the Halloweiner Festival, taking place on Oct. 27— a dachshund race, taking place at Santa Anita Race Track with just a $5 admission fee.
The dachshunds are lined up, ready to race each other as they are dressed up in Halloween costumes. All other dogs are welcome to attend the festivities as well as to be accessorized.
All in all, Halloween is packed with fun and diverse activities catering to many preferences. From spine-chilling mazes at Halloween Horror Nights and Knott’s Scary Farm to family-friendly sites such as the Advent Pines Pumpkin Patch and Christmas Tree Lot and Halloweiner Fest, Halloween is the season for everyone. Whether you’re seeking a thrilling or peaceful night, Arcadia and other places nearby have fun for everybody.
