Thank You, My Friends

Though I’ve had many close friends throughout my life, none have compared to Meg and Veronica.

Throughout elementary school, Meg Green was my best friend. We did everything together: reading the same books, watching the same movies, and even buying the same offensively ugly neon long socks. She even inspired me to join the sport I still continue playing today—volleyball. Despite our closeness in elementary school, we eventually drifted apart in sixth grade and found other friend groups.

During elementary school, I also befriended Veronica Meyers. We stayed after school in the same program together and spent our elementary school days playing four square, doing gymnastics on the field, and playing Animal Jam. She became one of my best friends, and though our friendship stayed strong throughout middle school, we eventually drifted apart freshman year.

As I found other friends and met new people, I never forgot my old friends, Meg and Veronica. Eventually, after school one day, I ran into Veronica and began catching up with her. This initial meeting reignited our friendship, and we began eating lunch together everyday and hanging out every weekend.

Despite our time apart, we found ourselves bonding over new passions: our love for Harry Potter, our obsession with Steve Lacy, and our obsession with vinyl and extremely base level witchcraft. She became my best friend, and I knew we would never drift apart again.

During my time away from both of them, Meg and Veronica became best friends. My friendship with Meg once again reignited in the summer, where we spent everyday together eating Panera mac and cheese, manifesting in the park, and screaming Olivia Rodrigo in her car.

After becoming best friends with the both of them, Meg, Veronica, and I formed a trio, and we became inseparable. Despite our trials and tribulations, I wouldn’t trade my friends and the memories we’ve made together for the world. As high school continues, many things in our lives change. Boyfriends, classes, and sports all consume our lives, and yet we have stuck together through it all.

As college approaches fast, I dread how it will separate our trio. Despite what the future may hold for us, I know I will never forget Meg and Veronica, and they will always remain my best friends.
