The Big Scale Move-In of LAX

Kimberly Lo, Staff Writer

The Los Angeles Airport (LAX) has had a big scale move in mid-May. Airlines involved include Allegiant, Boutique Air, Delta, Interjet, JetBlue, Southwest, Sun Country, and Virgin America.

LAX currently isn’t ranked very high on the customer satisfaction list, but in recent years, customers have been getting increasingly happy with the services, and hopefully this move will further the quality of LAX. In addition, wait times at the airport are supposedly going to decrease, which is an important improvement as well.

Known to be one of the largest moves of this type in history, this move involved 15 airlines that will be moving locations over the course of five days. In terms of cost, the money needed to complete this is around 60 million dollars.

To spread the news out about the move, LAX has been using media to tell everyone of the upcoming move, through television and radio. Additionally, airlines have been contacting their customers to make sure they are up to date.

Among the airlines involved, Delta Airlines is strongly in support of this move. Their new location will now be in Terminal 2 and Terminal 3. The terminals will eventually then be put together into one, and gates will be added which will allow for even more convenient services for customers.

What is good for Delta will be good for LAX overall and customers as well. In particular, Delta is one of the biggest airlines that are a part of the LAX airport. Delta and LAX also have a really good relationship, as shown by Delta deciding to invest about two billion dollars in LAX. As each airline individually flourishes so will the LAX airport, and this can trickle to more content customers.

A few tips that LAX is giving visitors is to be observant and keep eyes out for helpful signs that will help them navigate the airport and have the smoothest visit possible. Most importantly, no matter what, it is crucial to remain calm despite potential confusion and prepare for extra time to make sure there is no need to rush.

For people at LAX between May 12 and May 17, movers will be working at the same time so departure terminals will be adjusted to allow for the work to continue smoothly, but hopefully this move will lead to an even better facility for flights in Los Angeles.
