Mr. Carlos Carranza is a new teacher at Arcadia High School. This is his second year teaching, and his first year teaching in-person. He teaches AP Environmental Science and AP Chemistry. 

Aahana Dutta:  What are you most excited about these days?

Mr. Carranza:  I think what I am most excited about is just that I don’t know what’s going to happen each day. 

Aahana: What’s your favorite holiday?

Mr. Carranza:  Halloween.

Aahana: Favorite season?

Mr. Carranza:  Winter.

Aahana: Where does one go on a perfect road trip?

Mr. Carranza:  Probably Mexico.

Aahana: What is the best activity when home on a rainy day?

Mr. Carranza:  Either binge-watching a show or reading a book.

Aahana: Movies or TV series?

Mr. Carranza:  Movies.

Aahana: What is the best thing that happened this year?

Mr. Carranza:  Getting out of online learning.

Aahana: What’s your New Year’s resolution?

Mr. Carranza:  Get more organized.

Mr. Carranza:  Squats.

Aahana: What’s the best way to decompress?

Mr. Carranza:  I think just spending time with someone close to you, like family or friends.

Aahana: What’s your favorite country to visit?

Mr. Carranza:  The only country I’ve ever visited, Mexico.

Aahana: Country you wish to visit?

Mr. Carranza:  If it’s in Europe, I’d want to visit France, but I kind of want to visit Vietnam.

Aahana: What’s your favorite ice cream flavor?

Mr. Carranza:  Boba popsicles.

Mr. Carranza:  I’d like to be a cook.

Mr. Carranza:  I really love any kind of chips.

Mr. Carranza:  Texas Chainsaw Massacre

Aahana: If you could make a documentary, what would it be about?

Mr. Carranza:  Something about climate change; there were a couple that came out a few years ago, but there’s none that really emphasize the little time we have left.

Aahana: If you could have one superpower what would it be?

Mr. Carranza:  Stop time.

Aahana: The scariest thing that’s happened to you?

Mr. Carranza:  I almost fell from the cliffs driving through the Angeles Crest. 

Aahana: What is the best thing that happened to you today?

Mr. Carranza:  I got a piece of cake from my fellow teachers.

Aahana: Do you like surprises?

Mr. Carranza:  Yes, sometimes I feel like I don’t, but if I am genuinely surprised, it’s nice.

Aahana: Is boba overrated?

Mr. Carranza:  Maybe a little.

Aahana: Do you like cupcakes?

Mr. Carranza:  You know, I am not a fan.

Aahana: Do you like baking?

Mr. Carranza:  I used to bake a lot of pies and tarts.

Aahana: What’s your favorite dessert?

Mr. Carranza:  I like shaved ice.

Aahana: Is there a dessert you don’t like?

Mr. Carranza:  I am not a fan of anything that’s too sweet.

Aahana: What’s your favorite grocery store?

Mr. Carranza:  Grocery Outlet.

Aahana: What’s your favorite food?

Mr. Carranza:  I feel like my comfort food is pho.

Aahana: It’s brunch, what do you eat?

Mr. Carranza:  A breakfast sandwich.

Aahana: You are stuck on an island, you can pick one food to eat forever without getting tired of it, what would you eat?

Mr. Carranza:  I think I’d have to pick pizza.

Aahana: Favorite color?

Mr. Carranza:  Green.

Mr. Carranza:  As a kid, Spiderman.
