Thankfulness is an integral value in today’s society; it allows us to reflect on things we have had over the past period of time. Gratitude lets people be thankful for someone or something that has helped them over the past year or so. As such, technology is most definitely something to be thankful for, since it has advanced civilization farther than anything else.

Technology is simply just the use of newly known scientific knowledge and its application to make things that help people today. From the plow to iPhones, humankind has come a long way in technology, using it to help themselves and others frequently. In this new modern age, one can be thankful for technology, as not only would communication with others be much harder, but the pandemic could’ve had an even greater impact on the social lives of teens. Gen Z and Millennials greatly rely on things like the Internet or texting, and so if it didn’t exist, everyone would be that much more isolated.

We can see that, before instant global communication, it could take weeks or months for someone’s message to get to somewhere else in the world. These pieces of information also had to be written down onto a hard copy of paper, which takes great time and effort if the message is long. Now, anyone can take a pocket sized device, quickly write down a few words or even use their voice to send a message, and then it can be sent to another person anywhere. In contrast, this new way of talking to one another doesn’t have to take long stretches of time, but instead can travel in mere seconds over long distances, allowing for heightened communication between people.

While technology has caused harm at times, it is but a natural consequence of anything humans may develop. There is much to be thankful for about electronics; another such element to be thankful for is the entertainment feature. Tech was one stepping stone in a long chain of steps to make digital entertainment; people can stream anything they want, which can evoke emotions in them not seen elsewhere. It can also keep people entertained with simple or complex games, allowing those to relax and/or use their brains.

From Pokémon Go to League of Legends, technology has spawned new job opportunities for some and new ways to achieve happiness for others. It is here that we can reflect on the new market made purely with creativity and tech. Those who may not fit in anywhere else can find a home in digital fandoms or a game developing job, where they can finally feel a sense of belonging. To put it simply, tech has changed our lives for the better, and we should be thankful for the advancements in most fields.

Technology has changed the way things are done everywhere; it allows for a multitude of improvements to help everyone involved. People must be mindful of how to apply new developments in technology, while also admiring it and using it to better everyone. With this, the world can finally be happy, all thanks to tech.
