Staying Fit During Online School
September 28, 2020
Your bed has captured you. You can’t seem to crawl out of the sheets. You close your eyes shut tightly trying to fall back into the depths of your sleep, but you know you won’t be able to as school is approaching. When you finally manage to pry yourself out of those comfy sheets, you find yourself sitting mundanely in front of your computer. Every task is dreaded. Every movement is loathsome. And although it seems impossible after such deep sleep, you still find yourself tired.
Thanks to being confined to our homes during this dreaded period of time, many students are losing their motivation to get up and workout. Being quarantined has disrupted the routines of many and resulted in a communal feeling of hopelessness.
So are we all doomed? Is there really no way to stay fit indoors?
No, of course not! Being quarantined DOES NOT mean you can’t workout! In fact, there are several ways you can give yourself that little activity your body needs so desperately. Be it home workouts or even standing while taking online classes, there are plenty of means to help you get your ideal body or maintain your physique.
The most effective way to stay fit during quarantine is to follow home workouts. With everyone being confined to their homes, home workout videos are gaining popularity with thousands being uploaded everyday. Home workouts offer specificity on the areas you would personally want to work on. A quick Google search and you can find thousands of certified trainers guiding you through unique workouts with varying difficulty.
Blogs like Nerd Fitness boast online coaches and videos that “specialize in helping people get fit from home.” There are also several YouTubers going viral for their high-intensity workouts that claim to yield quick results. These include Chloe Ting, Bully Juice, and JessicaSmithTV.
And the best thing about these workouts? They don’t take too much time out of your schedule. Many range from only 10 to 45 minutes and provide ample exercise.
But if home workouts still aren’t really your thing, don’t worry because there are many more options for you.
Low-intensity workouts that span a long duration can also help you get that body of your dreams. Standing while taking your online classes, wall-sits while you eat, or doing planks while reading your textbooks take no extra time out of your day and are proven to be very good for you.
If you are to purchase a standing desk you will reap a great return on your investment. An article by the American Cancer Society boasts, “they provide health benefits, including weight loss, reduced back pain, improved mental health, lower blood sugar, lower cholesterol, and greater life expectancy.” Therefore not only will you be giving your body the exercise it needs, but you’ll be signed up to receive several additional long term benefits.
Don’t let anything stop you from getting exercise and staying active. Stay fit!
