Time Management Apps/Extensions
February 21, 2020
It’s common for students to have a difficult time managing their time wisely. It’s easy for people, especially students, to get distracted and do everything at the last minute. Everyone knows the importance of good time management skills, but for some, these habits may be harder to achieve than others. Luckily, there are time management tools that can help people improve. From communication platforms to task organizers, here are a few apps and extensions that can help make the most of each day!
Clockify
Clockify is a free time tracking software available on multiple different platforms. It’s a simple time tracker and timesheet app for tracking work hours across projects. Along with that, it offers visual charts, breakdowns, and live status for group projects. It has an understandable user interface and an efficient project tracking system. While a few apps require a monthly fee, Clockify is completely free and perfect for both individuals and groups.
Reminders
Reminders is an app for the phone and computer that you can use to schedule reminders, as its name suggests. The app is simple and easy to operate, but it has very limited options. People can also choose to ignore reminders that have been set, but it’s perfect for people who have a hard time remembering small things, such as buying groceries. “This is my go to app,” sophomore Flora Huang says, “It’s very simple compared to a lot of the other apps, so I find it very useful, especially when I’m not quite used to using a phone.”
Block Site/StayFocused
Block Site is a chrome extension ideal for anyone who has trouble staying focused and improving productivity. The extension focuses on self control as it enables people to control their browsing browsing content by blocking apps and sites when they need to be focused. Additionally, it includes a set time period of work for when to block apps that are completely customizable and allows you to sync with other devices.
MyLifeOrganized
MyLifeOrganized software helps you think and act differently. Doing things differently is the first step to getting rid of procrastination habits. With this software, you can organize your goals, projects and tasks into a tree and MyLifeOrganized will generate a simple To Do list of actions for you.
Todoist
Todoist is an advanced time management app that has many useful features. People can set up a schedule, add small reminders for daily tasks, organize group projects, and check their work efficiency each day. It is easy to use with its simple layout and it is available even offline. Similar to MyLifeOrganized, the app has multiple languages. However, Todoist does have features that you must pay to use. For premium, you have to pay $3 a month.
Time is a precious resource—you can’t stop using it and you can’t find more of it, but you need it to do absolutely everything. From scheduling meetings to fulfilling orders, time is behind every aspect of running a business and you can’t afford to manage it poorly. Thankfully, opportunities to manage your time better are everywhere, and these apps may provide a stop to bad habits! Sophomore Jasmine Castro talks about her experience with using time management apps. “At first I struggled with procrastination a lot, and my friend suggested using an app to try to better my habits,” she says, “It helped quite a bit, actually, and my procrastination is less severe than before.”
