Friendsmas Ideas

Jasmine Oang, Staff Writer

Everyone wants to be friendship goals and this year, you and your squad can conquer the holidays with Friendsmas. Here are a couple of ideas that are pic-worthy, fun, and bound to make everyone else jealous. More importantly, you’ll actually feel like goals.

Have a sleepover

There are so many things you can do during a sleepover. You can start off by making dinner or ordering pizza and end up just feasting all night. Break out those cup noodle cooking skills or try to make spaghetti and meatballs; there’s just one thing you have to do: make Gordon Ramsay proud! Afterwards, you guys can stuff your faces with a tub of ice cream and a box of Oreos and pull an all-nighter by giving each other makeovers, pampering yourselves, or building a fort. Don’t forget to dance around like idiots and sing to all of your favorite tunes while laughing endlessly all night.

Movie Night

This is kind of similar to having a sleepover, but instead you guys can accidentally burn your popcorn and sing to High School Musical. Or, if you guys really can’t think of any good movies, just binge watch an entire movie series. If you’re thinking about Christmas movies, here are some good ones on Netflix: How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Mickey’s Magical Christmas, The Legend of Frosty The Snowman, A Christmas Kiss, 12 Dates of Christmas, Santa Buddies, and Santa Paws.

Go out for Dinner

If you all are extra and want to dress up, go out and splurge on a fancy dinner for once instead of just chilling around the mall food court. Head to the restaurants in Old Town Pasadena or Old Town Monrovia. Or, if your parents won’t drive that far just head to The Cheesecake Factory. In Old Town Pasadena, grab dinner at Café Santorini or Again Café X Chibiscus Ramen. Or, go for Italian food in Old Town Monrovia at Bella Sera Trattoria.

Go Ice Skating

If you’re in Pasadena, might as well go ice skating anyways right? Both ways, there’s bound to be some memories worth capturing from falling on your butts to laughing about having to continuously hold onto the side of the rink.

Have a bonfire at the beach

S’mores and hot dogs?  Head down to Huntington Beach and have a bonfire and maybe go for a swim before. You guys can even go biking or take some snazzy photos too. Or if you’re in need of a new wardrobe, stop by Abbot Kinney Blvd. in Venice Beach or the Third Street Promenade and empty out your wallets. Either way, there’s no going wrong at the beach.

Volunteer at a Soup Kitchen

Maybe you guys would rather donate your time to helping out others. You can head down to Hospitality Kitchen or L.A. Kitchen in Downtown L.A. They’re always looking for volunteers, and there’s always someone less fortunate in need of a nice warm meal. So, maybe instead of buying that makeup palette or splurging on a fancy dinner, you can give back this holiday season.
